Region of Alto Adidge
Alto-Adidge is the Italian Alps. It
streches from Veneto to Switzerland and Austria. The region,s vineyards extend over the plains and hills surrounding the Isarco Valley and the Adidge River,
whose valley is the corridor to Germany.The region is walled in by the Phaetian Alps and the Dolomites.
Grape growing goes back before Roman times.Roman historian,Pliny the Elder writes references to the area. The Region is known for quality wines. The people speak German and Italian. The area of South Tyrol was once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The area is familiar to skiers who will recognize the name Tyrolian.
