Region of Sicily

Sicily is Italy's and the Mediterranean's largest island. Sicily is Italy's region with the largest number of vineyards. Sicily's latitude , exposure and microclimate are not far different than those of the Napa Valley...but Sicily's winemaking tradition goes back a while longer. In fact, traces of its oenological history can be found on artifacts dated centuries before Christ in the Magnna Grecia era.

Wine Producing areas include: Pachino,Palermo,Trapani,Arigento and the Islands of Pantelleria and Liapri. Popular grape varietals are: Nero d' Avola, Perriccone, Inzolia, Cataratto Bianco and Moscato as well as international varieties like Chardonnay and Cabernet.

Sicily is being noticed by the successful wineries in the North of Italy and by the world for its renaissance in wine quality. Its high quality unique wines are being sought after by the world.
